Maine State Police Troop F Weekly Report (Feb. 26 – March 4)
Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 88 calls for service this past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is a sampling from the Troop’s weekly report:
Incident Type: OAS Date: 2/28/2018 Town: BRIDGEWATER Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins was getting fuel and observed a male he had recently dealt with on another traffic related incident and knew the man had a suspended driver’s license. Tr. Kilcollins stopped the man and issued him a criminal summons for Operating After Suspension. When the man left the store, he put the hood from his sweatshirt over his face to hide himself. The man told Tr. Kilcollins he was hoping he had not seen him.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/02/2018 Town: SMYRNA Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff received a traffic complaint in Smyrna on Interstate 95 of a vehicle all over the road. Tr. Duff located the vehicle and after observing the poor operating stopped the man. The 55-year-old male had a suspended driver’s license and was not paying attention to his driving. The man was issued a criminal summons for Operating After Suspension and he arranged for a ride home.
Incident Type: ASSIST OTHER AGENCY Date: 3/02/2018 Town: ISLAND FALLS Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Fort Fairfield Police Department notified the State Police of a vehicle that had been stolen in their town. The company owning the vehicle could use GPS and told the dispatcher it was southbound on Interstate 95 in Ludlow. Tr. Duff was south of Island Falls waiting for the vehicle. A deputy from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department was in Island Falls just north of Tr. Duff, observed the vehicle, and stopped it on the exit. Tr. Duff arrived and arrested the man and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail on behalf of the Fort Fairfield officer.
Incident Type: OAS Date: 3/02/2018 Town: WESTFIELD Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins was conducting traffic enforcement on US Highway 1, Westfield. He observed a female driving a vehicle that he knew had a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle also was not displaying a valid certificate of inspection. Tr. Kilcollins stopped the vehicle and the woman said she was taking her boyfriend to work. The woman knew her license was not suspended. Tr. Kilcollins issued her a warning for the inspection violation and a criminal summons for Operating After Suspension. The woman will appear in Presque Isle court.
Incident Type: ASSIST OTHER AGENCY Date: 3/02/2018 Town: MONTICELLO Trooper: CPL. QUINT Brief Synopsis: Cpl. Quint assisted the District Humane Agent (Department of Agriculture) with the removal of a dog and cat from a home in Monticello. The Humane Agent had obtained a search warrant to remove the neglected animals after repeated attempts to get the owners to seek medical treatment for the dog. The animals were removed and will be given treatment at a facility in the area.
Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 3/03/2018 Town: MARS HILL Trooper: SGT. CLARK Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark was driving on US Highway 1, Mars Hill, when he observed a vehicle travelling at an excessive speed. Using his vehicle mounted RADAR he could confirm the vehicle to be driving 58 mph in a posted 25 zone. The 26-year-old male from Farmington was issued a criminal summons for criminal speeding and will have to appear in Presque Isle Court.
Incident Type: POSSESSION OF DRUGS Date: 2/26/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Pescitelli conducted a traffic stop in Mapleton on a speeding vehicle. After issuing the 23-year-old male a speeding summons, Tr Pescitelli searched the vehicle, during the search, Tr Pescitelli located drug paraphernalia then located a baggie of methamphetamine hidden inside the handle of a mini screwdriver. Tr Pescitelli arrested the male for possession of scheduled drugs and transported him to PIPD for processing.
Incident Type: POSSESSION OF DRUGS/ WARRANT ARREST Date: 3/04/2018 Town: PRESQUE ISLE Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: On March 4th at approximately 0120hrs, Tr Pescitelli was at a gas station in Presque Isle. He ran the registration plate of a vehicle in the parking lot and found that the plate did not belong on the vehicle. Tr Pescitelli conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found that the 32-year-old male passenger had an active arrest warrant. Tr Stoutamyer arrived and each Trooper interviewed the 2 occupants and found that their stories were not matching and Tr Pescitelli called for Sgt Fuller and K-9 Glenni to respond. After arriving on scene, Glenni indicated on the vehicle and a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up pills. Both the 30-year-old female operator and 32-year-old male passenger was arrested for possession of schedule W drugs.
Incident Type: DRIVING TO ENDANGER Date: 2/28/2018 Town: ST. JOHN Trooper: TR. CURTIN Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin charged a teenage driver with Driving to Endanger, Carrying Passengers Beyond Restrictions, and Operating with an Expired Registration. The charges stemmed from a driving incident with a school bus. The youth had tailgated a school bus, passed it, and then would slow down once in front of it. He also would pull over as other students were dropped off and wait for the bus to continue. The young man had recently been kicked off the bus after inappropriate behavior.
Incident Type: CASE UPDATE Date: 1/27/2018 Town: MARS HILL Trooper: TR. CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: On January 27, at approximately 6:00 P.M. Tr. Nick Casavant responded to a motor vehicle crash on Main Street in Mars Hill. Witnesses reported a vehicle struck two parked vehicles in front of Al’s Diner. The operator of that vehicle, Keighan Robichaud-Griffin fled the scene and was found a short time later in the area. Investigation revealed Robichaud -Griffin was traveling north on Main Street when he left the roadway and struck a pickup truck parked at Al’s Diner. The impact pushed the truck into another truck parked at the diner causing significant damage to all three vehicles. Robichaud-Griffin was taken into custody and transported to The Aroostook Medical Center. Tr. Casavant was assisted at the scene by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department. Following a subsequent investigation and search warrant on Robichaud-Griffin’s vehicle, Tr Casavant charged Robichaud-Griffin with multiple misdemeanor and felony level crimes. On February 23, Robichaud-Griffin pleaded guilty to the following charges at Presque Isle District Court and was sentenced to 3 years of incarceration: Unlawful Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs Class B Violation Conditions of Release Class C Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs Class D Operating under the Influence Class D Criminal Mischief (2 Counts) Class D Improper Plates Class E Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle Class E Leaving Scene of an Accident Class
