Maine Man Heading To Prison For False Information In Firearm Purchase

A 25-year old Maine man pleaded guilty in court to providing false information during the purchase of firearms.

United States Attorney Halsey B. Frank announced that Steven P. Springer II of Pittsfield, Maine, pled guilty yesterday in U.S. District Court.

According to court records, on February 22, 2015, Springer purchased a Kel-Tec PF9 semi-automatic pistol from a federally licensed firearms dealer.

In connection with the purchase, Lewis completed a Firearms Transaction Record form in which he falsely reported that he was the actual purchaser of the firearm.

Two days later, Springer purchased two Kel-Tec P11 semi-automatic pistols from another federally licensed dealer, again falsely reporting on the form that he was the actual purchaser of the firearms.

On both occasions, Springer was buying the firearms for another individual who was prohibited from purchasing them.

Springer faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
