Maine Man Arrested for Domestic Violence, Police Chase & Standoff
A 32-year-old wanted man was arrested for domestic violence after a police chase and standoff in Monmouth on Wednesday morning.
Man Arrested for Domestic Violence, Police Pursuit & Standoff
Zebbie Thomas of Hiram had two active arrest warrants and was not allowed to have contact with the victim.
Suspect Fled in Vehicle
The Monmouth Police Department located his vehicle around 7 am and tried to stop him. The victim was also in the car.
Police Pursuit
The Maine State Police said Thomas fled police in the vehicle and led law enforcement on a pursuit through Winthrop, Monmouth, and Wales. The chase was called off due to safety concerns.
Suspect Located
Police located Thomas and the victim several hours later at a residence on Sadies Way in Augusta.
Victim Escaped Residence during Standoff
“The victim was able to get out of the residence. She was not injured. Thomas was arrested without incident after a short standoff, said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
More Charges Pending
Thomas was taken to the Kennebec County Jail. Additional charges may be pending. The investigation is ongoing.
