Maine Checks In With One Of The Lowest Auto-Theft Rates In The Nation
There is nothing worse than leaving a store or restaurant and finding that your car has been stolen from the parking lot. If you live in Maine, you don't need to worry much.
According to our friends at WalletHub.com, Maine is overall one of the safer states, ranking 39 out of 50 states plus Washington D.C. The stats include safety, access to vehicle maintenance, traffic, and infrastructure.
One of the things that makes the Pine Tree State a great place to drive is the fact that their auto-theft rate is one of the lowest in the nation.
According to stats from 2014 and put out by the FBI, via the website Cars.com, Maine actually ranks #2 when it comes to auto-thefts.
The 2014 report shows that 799 thefts occurred that year. That means that there were, on average, 60 incidents out of 100,000 people. Not too shabby.
What do you think? Do you think auto-theft is down where you live or do you think that there has been an increase? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
And don't forget to always lock your car doors and set the alarm, if you have one.
