The older I get the more i dislike winter. When we were kids, we loved being outside in the snowy weather riding snowmobiles, downhill sledding and building snowmen. However, as I age, I find that I would much rather live close to a cruise terminal, like Cape Canaveral, Florida.

But alas, I can't convince all my extended family to make the move with us, so here in Maine I shall stay..for now. And now the old I get, the more I dread spring in Maine, too. It's not a dislike for warm weather, longer days and actually being able to feel my face when I'm outside. It's the damn allergies.

Between the pollen, grass clippings and ragweed (what even is ragweed?!) I'm constantly rubbing my eyes and clearing my throat. And of course, it's early spring when it seems to be the worst.

Even with a healthy daily-dose of Allergra 180, these pesky seasonal allergies always seem to find a way to wreck my week. And it looks like this week could be the first of many that will just plain suck for Maine allergy sufferers.

According to an article from WGME 13, Maine pollen levels are set to skyrocket this week. And let's be real, pollen is the primary offender for most of us when it comes to springtime allergies.

The news station is reporting that pollen levels will be high Monday through Thursday this week with most of it originating from budding Maple, Juniper and Birch trees. So, like my mother always used to tell me, get back on your allergy meds BEFORE you need them so they begin working early.

Don't, like me, wait until the last minute when you're already sneezing your butt off to pop an Allegra tab. Happy spring, friends!
