A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with kidnapping and assault in Hallowell.

Scott Palmer was taken into custody after a woman mouthed help several times to an officer on patrol.
Officer Investigated Suspicious SUV
The Hallowell Police Department said the officer saw an SUV parked in the Vaughn Woods parking around 9 pm and investigated.
Woman Asked Police for Help Several Times
Palmer was parked in the vehicle with the woman who was asking for help multiple times without speaking.

Woman Said She Was Taken Against Her Will
The woman told police she was taken to Hallowell against her will, and that Palmer was attempting to get her out of the SUV and into the woods for a sexual assault, according to Hallowell PD.
On Probation for Gross Sexual Assault
Palmer was on probation for gross sexual assault on prior charges.

Taken to County Jail and Booked
He was transported to the Kennebec County Jail and booked.
