Public safety telecommunicators or dispatchers often don’t get the recognition that they deserve. They work tirelessly to help police officers and fire departments run smoothly and respond to calls quickly. This week is National Telecommunications Week.

I have seen many different police departments from around Maine and New Brunswick this week, thanking their dispatchers. That’s wonderful to see that those people get some recognition. Just because people don’t necessarily see them, doesn’t mean that they don’t work hard. They work nights, weekends, holidays, and even in bad weather to help keep their communities safe.

We would like to take a moment to say ‘Thank You’ to all of the men and women behind the scenes who help in times of crisis, sending out the help you need. These people play a vital role in front line of many operations; whether it be the RCMP, State Police, town or city police, or the various fire departments in our area.
