The driver of the SUV was not injured and there was no damage his vehicle, according to spokesman Steve McCausland.

Trooper Blake Conrad said the driver, 74-year-old Charles Foley of Parsonsfield may have fallen asleep. The SUV drifted into the median, and the trailer with the boat attached, broke loose from the vehicle and overturned.

Foley was headed to Eagle Lake for a fishing trip. The boat, a 2005 Stingray with an inboard-outboard motor was demolished, as was the trailer, McCausland said.

The passing lane of the Interstate at mile 143 northbound was closed for about an hour while the boat and trailer were removed. The hihway returned to normal about 10:45 a.m.

Blake said no enforcement action was taken against the driver, but the fishing trip was ruined.
