Hope & Justice Project to Offer Free Training

Presque Isle-based Hope & Justice Project will offer a free 35-hour training for anyone interested in helping individuals affected by abuse and violence or learning more for professional or personal growth. The training will take place on week-day evenings in September and October. 

Hope & Justice Project is the nonprofit organization that provides support services to anyone in Aroostook County who has experienced or been affected by abuse and violence. The organization provides a 24-hour helpline that is staffed primarily by highly trained volunteers. Every year, Hope & Justice Project fields over 6,000 helpline calls from individuals in Aroostook County.

Hope & Justice Project's Prevention and Training Coordinator Casey Faulkingham says the training is for volunteers who wish to work directly with victims of abuse and for community members looking to get involved by helping with event planning or providing child-care for a mother while she attends court or support group. It's also for people who aren’t necessarily interested in volunteering but want to know more about abuse.

Faulkingham says dates and times of this training will be determined based on the availability of interested participants. Hope & Justice Project can also provide documentation for social workers or educators seeking Continuing Education contact hours for this training.
