Saturday's high Speed chase on Route 1 in Frenchville ended in the arrest of a 19-year-old driver for eluding, driving to endanger, criminal speeding, and OUI.

At approximately 11:52 PM, Saturday, Trooper Luce clocked a pickup driving 76 mph in a posted 50 mph zone on US Rt. 1 in Frenchville. Luce attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, said police. 

As Trooper Luce was attempting to catch the up to the vehicle, he clocked the vehicle’s speed at 98 mph in a 50 mph zone.  Police said, Luce pursued the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren activated but the driver refused to pull over.

The chase was terminated within a short distance for safety reasons but Trooper Luce, Trooper. Levesque, Sgt. Clark, Madawaska PD, and Fort Kent PD officers continued to check the area for the described vehicle.

Luce discovered the truck in a logging yard in Frenchville.  The 19 year old operator, Shane Bouchard, was found hiding in his vehicle and was arrested for eluding, driving to endanger, criminal speeding, and OUI, said police.

Bouchard was bailed from the Fort Kent Police Dept.
