Important: Here’s Why the USPS Wants Maine Residents to Check Their Mailboxes
When’s the last time you checked your mailbox, but not for the mail?
I am speaking on the actual box itself. It’s been quite a while now hasn’t it? So now is the perfect time, to check your box.
Mailboxes are a big deal because they hold important parcels, just for you and your family and this week, May 21-27th folks are checking their mailboxes for Mailbox Improvement Week, according to USPS.
The USPS is asking all of us to give our boxes a bit more TLC.
Why? Well, a good mailbox is a happy mailbox and it isn’t just about the looks. It makes delivery much safer and will protect everything that is put in your box from weather!
Weather in Maine is unpredictable and making quality improvements to your mailbox will ensure you’re letters are kept safe.
Plus, a nice mailbox really does make the look of your entire street, nicer.
So if you don’t do it for yourself, do it for the neighbors that have to house your box on their lawn, right?
Here’s What the USPS Wants You to Check
Your mailbox has to be approved by the Postmaster General, weather-resistant, safe to use with no sharp edges, easy to access, and not falling apart.
