Four People Injured in Northern Aroostook Collision
Four people were taken the hospital Wednesday evening after an SUV and a pickup truck collided at an intersection in Winterville Plantation.
Maine State Police were called to the crash on the Aroostook Road around 6:20 p.m., according to information from Sgt. Josh Haines.
The investigation determined that 76-year-old Rodney Madore of Eagle Lake was driving a 2008 Hyundai SUV on the Quimby Road approaching the intersection of Aroostook Road (Route 11). At the same time, 16-year-old Kole Walker of Fort Kent was operating a 2005 GMC truck northbound on the Aroostook Road. Police said Madore failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by Walker's vehicle.
Walker and his passenger, 17-year-old Zachary Dionne of Fort Kent and Madore and his passenger, 78-year-old Joan Dow of Eagle Lake were all taken by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center. Dow was later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. The two teens have reportedly been released from the hospital.
Sgt. Haines said all four were wearing seat belts and airbags deployed in Walker’s truck. Both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed away from the scene.
Eagle Lake Ambulance, Fort Kent Ambulance, Eagle Lake Fire Department, and Aroostook County Sheriff's Deputy Pete Johnson also responded to the accident.
