Four Injured after a Rollover Crash on the Turnpike in Maine
One woman and three men were injured Monday morning after a commercial vehicle crashed and rolled over on the Turnpike in Ogunquit.
Commercial Vehicle Rolled Over on Turnpike
The Maine State Police said the crash happened around 8:12 am after a white commercial van lost control on wet pavement, crashed and rolled over in the median.
Construction Debris Thrown from Van
“Debris including roofing nails, construction equipment and power tools were thrown from the van,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Van Driver not Injured
The driver, 39-year-old Victor Miguel Cedillo Merchan from Brockton, Massachusetts, was not injured.
Three Men in Van Seriously Injured
Three other men in the van were seriously injured and taken to Portsmouth Hospital. They were not wearing seatbelts, said Moss.
Woman Injured
A woman was injured after her white Honda hit the debris. The car was disabled and the airbags were deployed causing minor injuries.
Speed and Erratic Driving Factors
“Speed and erratic operation appear to be factors in the crash. The crash is still under investigation,” said police.
Lanes of the Turnpike Shut Down
Several lanes of the Turnpike were shut down for cleanup. The road is reopened.
