Caribou Fire Department Capt. Mike McCarthy said the call came in just before 8:00 p.m. of a fire at 226 McIntyre Road.  Firefighters arrived to find the flames spreading throughout the workshop owned by Dale Simon Transportation.

Capt. McCarthy said that Washburn, Presque Isle, and Limestone Fire Departments also provided personnel and tankers in an effort to bring the blaze under control.  Crews worked quickly to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby home and a smaller garage.

There was extensive damage to the interior and exterior of the building, McCarthy said, although the structure was still standing.  Firefighters remained on site for about 2 ½ hours Saturday night.

Capt. McCarthy said the fire appears to have started in a wood boiler in an attached storage area.  The cause is under investigation. There were no apparent injuries.

The property is situated at the end of the McIntyre Road, also known as Rabbit Ridge Road, not far from the Woodland Town Office.
