The driver escaped after a tractor-trailer was fully engulfed in flames Wednesday morning at the Kennebec Service Plaza on I-95.

Tractor-Trainer Cab was Fully Engulfed in Flames when Firefighters Arrived

Firefighters responded to the scene to find the sleeper cab burning and the fire spreading to the refrigerated trailer.

Driver was Sleeping and Awakened by Smoke

The truck driver was sleeping in the cab when the fire started and was awakened by the smoke. He was able to get out with injury.

The tractor-trailer was hauling food.

Firefighters Were Not Injured

There were no reports of firefighters being injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation as crews processed the scene and removed the burned tractor-trailer.
