Officials are investigating a fire that severely damaged a house at 79 Western Avenue in Boothbay Harbor early Saturday morning.

Ongoing Investigation after 911 Call to Report Fire

The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office was on the scene after a 911 call reported the blaze around 2:30 am.

Multiple Fire Departments Responded to the Scene

Firefighters and first responders for Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Boothbay, and Edgecomb Fire Departments quickly responded quickly, said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Cause of House Fire was Electrical in Nature

Investigators “determined the fire was electrical in nature and originated from the back side of the residence,” according to Moss.

Fire Remains Under Investigation

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported to residents or crews. The fire remains under investigation.
