Fire Destroys Family’s Travel Trailer at Woodstock Campground
A family of five staying at a popular campground in Lower Woodstock lost their travel trailer and all its contents in a fire on Sunday.
Employees at the Jellystone Park noticed smoke coming from the 28-foot trailer Sunday morning and called the fire department. Workers tried to put out the blaze with a garden hose but high temperatures and strong winds made it difficult, according to the Woodstock Bugle-Observer.
The trailer was fully engulfed when the Woodstock Fire Department arrived. Crews were able to bring the fire under control but the travel trailer was a complete loss.
Disaster volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross have arranged emergency lodging, food and clothing purchases for a couple and three children ages eight to 11. Red Cross spokesman Dan Bedell said the family was away briefly so there were no injuries from the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
