Early Morning Fire Destroys Canterbury Home
Two adults lost their home and belongings to a fire early Saturday morning in Canterbury, about 30 kilometres south of Woodstock.
The blaze at 15 Dorrington Hill Road was spotted by a passerby around 5:45 a.m. Fire crews from several communities responded.
There were no injuries as the couple was away in Moncton at the time and had to quickly cancel a planned out-of-province trip, according to Dan Bedell of the Canadian Red Cross.
Red Cross Disaster volunteers have arranged emergency lodging and meals for the couple while they await a damage assessment by insurers.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
