One man died Sunday evening after a single-vehicle crash and fire on Interstate 295 in Bowdoinham.

Vehicle Caught Fire after Crash

The Maine state Police said the vehicle went off the road into the median and caught fire around 4:06 pm.

Hit Trees at High Rate of Speed

“The vehicle struck several trees at a high rate of speed and caught fire,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

One Vehicle Involved in Crash

The man was the only one in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Crash Investigation

The name and age of the driver was not released pending notification of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
