Eight vehicles collided in two chain reaction crashes Thursday evening on I- 295 in Falmouth.

First Crash Involved in Crash on I-295

The first crash involved four vehicles near Exit 10 around 5 pm.

Second Chain Reaction Crash Involved Four Vehicles

“As traffic slowed in the area, a second four-vehicle crash occurred near mile marker 12,” according to the Maine Department of Public Safety, Public Information Officer, Shannon Moss.

One Person Injured in Second Crash and Taken to the Hospital

One person was injured in the second crash and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

First Crash had No Reported Injuries

No injuries were reported from the first crash.

Heavy, Stop-and-Go Traffic Appear to be Factors in the Crashes

“Traffic in the area was heavy and, at times, stop-and-go prior to both crashes,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.

One Lane was Closed for the Crash Investigation and Clean Up

Traffic was reduced to one lane for about 45 minutes as vehicles were cleared from the scene.
