Cooking Accident Leaves 12 Homeless in Pittsfield

A woman is responsible for burning down an apartment complex and leaving 12 people homeless. What started the fire?

Firefighters were evacuating people from a burning building in Pittsfield late Saturday evening after one of the residents started a fire unintentionally.

The woman, who’s been unidentified, was making herself some French fries, when cooking oil caught on fire! Before anyone could react the fire had spread throughout the entire building. When firefighters arrived they managed to pull everyone, 12 people total, out of the burning building. No injuries were reported. But the building is now destroyed and the tenants are homeless.

The owner of the building reported that he didn’t have any insurance! The Red Cross is currently helping the 12 people who don’t have a home anymore.
