A 32-year-old citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to being an alien who was found in the United States after having been removed and deported from the United States.

Court documents reveal that on November 28, 2017, at about 7:50 a.m., U.S. Border Patrol agents found Eliud Lopez-Baez in a swamp in Hodgdon, Maine, a short distance from the international boundary.  The defendant had no immigration documents and admitted that he was a citizen of Mexico.  Immigration records showed that he had been removed from the United States in February 2017.

The defendant faces up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol.
