Convicted Murderer Escapes from Maine Prison
The Bangor Daily News is reporting that convicted murderer Arnold Nash, 65, has escaped from Mountain View Correctional Facility in Charleston where he was incarcerated for the murder of his neighbor in 1991.
Authorities say that they believe Nash escaped from the minimum-security prison camp around 8pm on Thursday, and may still be in the area of the facility, located just to the south of Dover-Foxcroft.
Police say that Nash should not be approached if seen in public.
Nash lived in Massachusetts before he murdered Wilfred Gibeault when he bludgeoned him to death and stole more than $1400 in cash.
He plead guilty to the murder and robbery in 1991, and received a 45-year prison sentence. He was slated for release just next year, in December 2019.
