The iconic landmark will be looking better than ever at the end of August!

For those of us who live in the Bangor area, the Paul Bunyan statue is something we probably all take for granted, because well, it is just always there, but it is a great point of interest to the tourists who flock to Maine each summer season.

With that in mind, the City of Bangor has decided to give the big fella a bit of a makeover. This is a process that takes place every decade or so.

They have set aside $15,000, to touch it up with some fresh paint, and make him look like the stud he is, once again.

The whole facelift will take about a week or so, depending on our ever changing weather, and will be finished by the end of this month. However, for a short time, there will be obstructed views of the statue, due to barriers surrounding it, and the necessary equipment. Plus, you must also factor in the paint smell in the air.

In addition to Paul's new look, there will also be five information kiosks added near the site, informing visitors of the history of the legendary statue.

At 31 feet high and 3,700 pounds, the Paul Bunyan statue that greets visitors into Bangor in front of the Cross Insurance Center on Main Street was a gift to Bangor on its 125th anniversary as a city in 1959.

There have been comedy bits, cartoons, a burger eating challenge, and many, many other tributes to the big fella. When driving or walking by it, I always see people posing near the statue for pictures.

It also happens to be a great spot for a selfie, or TikTok video

Or maybe write a song about it, and sing it on TikTok!
