According to Edmundston Energy, inflated helium balloons got stuck on a power line. Officials told CIMT that the balloons caused an explosion that ignited several small fires in the area.

Edmundston Fire & Safety Department responded and knocked down the fires that were smouldering in the grass and trees near the roadway.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt and there was no fire damage to nearby homes. Some residents, however, lost power and crews from Edmundston Energy were dispatched to the area.
