Paying for a college education just got a little easier for a couple of St. John Valley college freshmen.

Acadia Federal Credit Union has named Cassidy Beaulieu and Jacob Jandreau as 2019 recipients of the Acadia FCU Scholarship. Sarah Masterson of Hampden was also named a scholarship recipient. The three were selected based on a written essay, grade point average, financial need and personal and academic achievements.

Cassidy Beaulieu is a 2019 graduate of Madawaska Middle/High School, currently attending the University of Maine at Fort Kent with a major in nursing. She is the daughter of Lucie Bernier and Mike Beaulieu of Madawaska.

Jandreau is a 2019 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School and is currently attending Husson University in Bangor, majoring in business administration with a concentration in financial management. He is the son of Joey and Elaine Jandreau of Fort Kent.

Scholarship recipients will each receive $2,000 toward their education, with $1,000 awarded after the first semester of their first year and the second $1,000 payable after the second semester of their second year.

The Acadia Federal Credit Union college scholarship is available to current Maine high school seniors who meet all of the following criteria: (1) Attend an Aroostook, Piscataquis, or Penobscot County high school; (2) Plan to enroll in a two-year or four-year college or university; and (3) Are an active Acadia FCU member or whose parent(s)/guardian(s) is/are active member(s). The scholarship application will be available at acadiafcu.org beginning April 1, 2020.
