A + Roots + Acoustic = Arootsakoostik
What started in 2007 as a sort of a homecoming for musicians with roots in Aroostook County has grown into one of the best showcases for original music in the region.
On Saturday, the 2013 Arootsakoostik will flood Thomas Park in New Sweden with an electrifying wave of homegrown music and artistic expression. It’s a one-of-a-kind event where the artists and audience mingle, converse, laugh, dance, eat and have fun in the summer sun.
If you’ve never enjoyed a live jam in the Thomas Park amphitheater, you need to experience it first-hand. Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday. The musical magic starts at 10 and keeps rolling until dark. Featured artists this year include Dead End Armory, Mallet Brothers Band and The Ghost of Paul Revere. Here’s the complete line-up for Saturday’s Arootsakoostik Music Festival:
Tickets are $18 at the gate. Children under 12 get in free. Proceeds from Arootsakoostik will go to the Restoration of Thomas Park. Organizers will also be making a donation to Dave Lamb of "Brown Bird," who is battling leukemia.
