60-Year-Old Man Died after House Fire in Maine
A 60-year-old man died early Monday morning after a house fire in Auburn.
One Man Died in House Fire
The State of Maine Fire Marshal’s Office said the man is believed to be Steven Berry who was found dead at the home.
Man Lived Alone at Residence
Officials said he lived alone at the two-story residence at 790 Washington Street.
House Engulfed in Flames
The fire engulfed the house when crews arrived on the scene around 1:35 am.
Collapse of the Roof
There was “structural collapse of the roof and structural compromise of the second floor, which limited fire suppression operations to the exterior of the building,” said the Auburn Fire Department.
Cause of Fire under Investigation
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.
