A 20-year-old man died Sunday evening after a crash into a guardrail and ditch on I-95 in Benton.

Isaiah Mathieu of Clinton died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on I-95.
Vehicle Hit Guardrail and Landed in a Ditch
The Maine State Police said Mathieu left the roadway and collided with a guardrail. His Chevy Trax was seriously damaged before entering a ditch near the tree line.
Police said Speed was a Factor in Crash
“The exact reason why Isaiah left the roadway is unknown; however, speed and failure to negotiate the roadway are contributing factors,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety. The crash is under investigation.
