Turbines at the Peak
The Wind Farm was commissioned in 2007. There are 28 turbines sitting on the peak at 1,750 feet.
Power Generated
They generate enough energy to power close to 18,000 households, according to the Press Herald. Much of that power is used in local communities and sold to New Brunswick.
Cost and Revenue
The overall cost of the project was $85 million. The tax revenue brings about $500,000 annually to Mars Hill.
Noise and Vibrations
Some of the issues raised about the turbines are the noise factor and vibrations affecting locals and wildlife. The concerns help shape future regulations and construction requirements in the state.

Turbines Across the State
There are approximately 400 turbines in Maine that generate close to 24% of the state’s electricity.
