A Waterville man was arrested on drug charges at Bangor's largest unhoused encampment.

Who is the Suspect?

Aaron Coker, 36, of Waterville was arrested after giving police a false identity to law enforcement.

How Did Police Identify Him?

Bangor Police had encountered Coker during a traffic stop on Tuesday, September 3rd. The driver was stopped for a traffic violation and Coker, who was a passenger in the vehicle, declined to identify himself. Once the stop was completed, the officer began investigating and found Coker's mugshot from a recent arrest.

Officers caught up to the vehicle as it was driving into Camp Hope. Coker was arrested for an outstanding warrant and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

What Charges Does He Face?

Once there, officials discovered that he allegedly had drugs concealed on his person. The drugs were confiscated and he was charged with:

  • Probation violation warrant
  • Aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs
  • 2 Counts of possession of Schedule W drugs

Camp Hope is the name given to a large homeless encampment located behind the Hope House Shelter, on Corporate Drive, in Bangor.
