A 27-year-old Washburn woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after driving off in a Maine Department of Transportation pickup truck, and leading law enforcement on a chase.

The incident started around 2 pm when Deputy Sheriff Reid Clark asked Rachel Donnelly to leave a gas station in Mars Hill at the request of the staff.

Donnelly left the store and got in an unlocked Maine DOT Ford pickup truck that was parked at the gas station. Without permission, Donnelly started the truck and drove south on US. Route 1, said the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Sheriff Clark pursued the MDOT pickup down Route 1, and onto the E Plantation Road for several miles. Donnelly then drove the pickup through a cable gate that was across a camp road. The pursuit came to an end when she got stuck and was taken into custody.

Donnelly was arrested and transported to the Aroostook County Jail. She currently faces charges of unauthorized use of property, eluding an officer, criminal mischief and operating after suspension.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Maine State Police.
