Valentine’s Day is about spending time with the ones you love, whether that be your spouse, your parents or your children. It’s a day to tell those people just how much they mean to you.

There are plenty of things to do in our area regarding Valentine’s Day. I’ve come up with a small list of local events that you could attend with your loved ones. Here goes.

There will be a Father Daughter Sweetheart Dance at the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department on Friday, February 8th, 2013 from 7pm – 9pm. Admission is $5 per couple. Photos by Duane will be on hand to photos for a small fee. Music and refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome to attend.

A Valentine's Breakfast will be held on Saturday, February 9th at the Keswick Valley Recreation Center in Burtts Corner, New Brunswick from 7:30am - 10am. The menu will consist of pancakes, bacon, eggs, baked beans, toast and beverages. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for kids and children under 5 eat for free. The Dr. Walter Chestnut Library in Hartland, New Brunswick will present a fundraising Valentine High Tea on Saturday, February 9th at 12 noon at Craig Gallery. There are 30 tickets available.  To reserve your ticket contact the Hartland library.

The Greater Houlton Christian Academy will put on a Spaghetti Supper/Valentine Dessert Auction Saturday, February 9th, 2013 from 4:30pm – 6pm at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton.  Menu will include spaghetti, sauce, green salad, roll, drink and dessert. Admission is by donation! Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Academy's Annual Fund.

The will be a Valentine's breakfast on Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at the Mapleton Diner from 7am  - 11am,  sponsored by Mapleton Fire Company. Firefighters will be servers. All donations will be applied to future fire company purchases.

Friends of the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library will hold a Valentine's Day Program on Thursday, February 14th, 2013 from 3pm – 4pm at the library located at 42 Main Street in Limestone. Children are invited to a Valentine story & craft. For more information please call 325-4706.

These events are geared more toward families, which is something of great importance. I’m sure there are many other events to attend leading up to Valentine’s Day. Which ones will you be attending?
