Saint-Léonard RCMP are investigating a hit-and-run early Friday morning along the Trans-Canada Highway just north of Morrell Siding, New Brunswick.

Police say a 42-year-old man from Tobique First Nation was apparently hitchhiking along the westbound lane of the highway near Exit Ramp 99 when he was struck by a vehicle sometime before 6:15 a.m. The man was taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries, according to Corporal Marcel Jaillet. The vehicle left the scene.

Based on debris found at the site of the collision, police are looking for an older model vehicle that may have significant damage particularly around a headlight.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any information on the vehicle involved is asked to contact Saint-Leonard RCMP at (506) 473-3137.
