First time racing on dirt, no problem for Fort Kent's Austin Theriault. At the ARCA Series race on the dirt track at the Illinois State Fairgrounds he won the pole position, led the first 32 laps, finished the race in second place and expanded his points lead for the driver championship.

Grant Enfinger, who drives in the NASCAR Truck Series, won the race with Theriault right on his bumper.

In fact, near the end of the race Theriault tapped Enfinger's bumper several times but chose not to  bump hard enough to push him out of the way.

"Every once in a while we were getting a better run off the corner," said Theriault. "We probably could have tapped him out of the way but coming home second in my first dirt track start is not a bad day."

"We gave it all we had at the end," Enfinger continued. "We used up a little too much early on. Austin (Theriault) did everything right. He was better than us at the end…we just had track position." - ARCA Press Release

Theriault settled for second place and the driver championship points that come with that finish. His closest competitor, Dalton Sargeant, finished 10th. That means Theriault will add to his 175 point series lead.

The young racer from Fort Kent is dominating the ARCA Series in the Kenny Schrader Racing Team car. In 14 races he has three wins, 11 top-5 finishes and has finished in the top-10 in all 14 events.

Next on the schedule, a road course race in Wisconsin Sunday afternoon.
