A video to emphasize Maine’s move-over law was posted on the Facebook pages of the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety and State Police. It shows a cruiser sideswiped last year.

State Police Corporal Dan Hanson’s cruiser was hit in November 2017 on Route 26 in Paris, Maine as the truck driver was looking at his cell phone. The driver was charged with distracted driving, said Stephen McCausland, Public Safety Department Spokesman.

Under Maine’s move-over law - drivers are required to slow down for emergency vehicles with their emergency lights on,  and move-over to the left, if possible.
