Maine State Police say a driver who fell asleep at the wheel rolled his car over on Route 11 in southern Aroostook County Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at approximately 6:15 p.m. in T8-R5, near Moro Plantation, according to Sgt. Chad Fuller.   Fuller said the driver, 66-year-old Bernard Michaud of Cumberland was headed north on Route 11 when he fell asleep and lost control of his 2008 Ford Focus,  The car went off the roadway and rolled over on its roof.

Mr. Michaud was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries. There was significant damage to the car. State Trooper Jacob Ferland and Sgt. Fuller responded to the crash, in unorganized territory about 35 miles west of Houlton. The driver was trapped in the overturned vehicle for a short time.
