The RCMP New Brunswick's Major Crime Unit is now investigating a shooting in Lincoln as a homicide and seeking a second person of interest.

Police are still attempting to locate 30-year-old Evan Polchies of the Kingsclear First Nation. The vehicle Polchies was suspected to have been driving was discovered last evening on the Kingsclear First Nation and has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Polchies is described as Aboriginal with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 6'1'', weighs approximately 230 lbs (a previous news release did not have his most recent known weight), and has numerous tattoos. It is believed that Polchies has a firearm and the public are cautioned not to approach him. Anyone who sees Polchies or knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Police are now also looking for a woman, 23-year-old Joe-Anna Hachey of Fredericton, as a person of interest. It is believed she may be with Polchies. Joe-Anna Hachey is described as Caucasian, 5' 2", slim with brown hair and blue eyes.

In the early morning hours of January 26, the RCMP were called regarding a shooting in Tamarack Park off the Lincoln Road in Lincoln, N.B. The victim, a 34-year-old man from Fredericton was taken to hospital, where he died later that afternoon.

The RCMP is attempting to locate a 30-year-old man who is a person of interest in a shooting in Tamarack Park in Lincoln, N.B., in the early morning Thursday.

Shortly after the shooting was reported, a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are attempting to locate 30-year-old Evan Polchies in connection with this investigation. It is believed that Polchies has a firearm and the public are cautioned not to approach him.

He may be driving a white 2005 Kia Sorento with Alberta license plate BVD 2709.

Polchies is Aboriginal with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 6'1'', weighs approximately 180 lbs, and has numerous tattoos.

Anyone who sees Polchies or knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police say a shooting in a park in Lincoln, New Brunswick early Thursday morning sent a 34-year-old man to the hospital.

The RCMP was called around 5:10 a.m. regarding a shooting in Tamarack Park off the Lincoln Road, according to Constable Hans Ouellette. Police say the wounded man then left the area, and went to a motel on the Lincoln Road in Fredericton. Emergency crews arrived at the motel and took the man to the hospital.

Police were talking to possible witnesses Thursday morning. At this time there have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, Ouellette said.
