Around 5:30 p.m., the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office received a report of a domestic dispute on the Van Buren Road in Connor. The female victim attempted to call 911, but the suspect broke her cell phone, according to Sheriff Darrell Crandall. The woman ran to a neighbor’s house where she called 911. The male suspect left the home before deputies arrived, Crandall said.

Sgt. Erica Pelletier met with the victim to find out what happened and subsequently relayed the identity of the suspect and vehicle to other deputies and area agencies. The Caribou Police Department located the suspect, 24-year-old Adam Murphy, driving in Caribou.

Deputy Rob Thibeault met with Caribou police officers and took Murphy into custody. Murphy was charged with Domestic Violence Assault and Obstructing the Report of a Crime.

He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail where he is being held without bail until he appears before a judge.

Sheriff Crandall said the victim will not be identified.
