The Presque Isle International Airport has been awarded a little over a million dollars for infrastructure improvement.

In a release from Senator Susan Collins' office, the Presque Isle International Airport will receive $1,074,816 for the purchase of two snow sweepers, which will help keep the main runway clear during inclement winter weather.

The Brunswick Executive Airport also received grant funding to the tune of $2 million for improvements to the airport’s parking lot and an apron rehabilitation project.

Sen. Collins, the Chairman of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee says the funding will improve the infrastructure of the two airports. “In a large state like Maine, local airports are an important transportation option that help promote job creation, economic development, and access to emergency services in rural communities.”

The grant funding was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
