
Police Chase with Multi-Vehicle Crash & Criminal Charges in Maine
A 42-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning after a police chase and multi-vehicle crash in Lewiston.
Charged after Police Chase and Crash
Erik Estrada was charged with Eluding an Officer, Aggravated criminal mischief, OUI, Operating without a license, Driving to endanger, Leaving the scene of an accident, Criminal speed and Violating conditions of release.
Driving Wrong Way
The Lewiston Police Department said Estrada was driving the wrong way on Ash Street and heading directly at a police cruiser.
Police Chase and Pursuit
Officers turned on the lights and siren to stop him. He then fled at a high rate of speed on Howe Street.

Crashed into Parked Vehicles
Estrada lost a bumper during the police chase. He then lost control of the vehicle and collided with several parked cars on the street.
Attempted to Flee on Foot
He tried to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended by police and taken to Central Maine Medical Center for minor injuries.
Four Vehicles Totaled
“Four vehicles are believed to be totaled — one of which was left on top of another vehicle. Several additional parked, unoccupied vehicles sustained damage. No other injuries were reported,” said Lewiston PD.
Additional Charges
Estrada was also charged with Wrong way on a one way, Seat belt, Failure to maintain control of motor vehicle, Failure to provide proof of insurance and two counts for Failure to stop at a stop sign.
