Police Chase in Presque Isle Leads to Meth Bust
Presque Isle Police arrested two people on drug charges and detained a third person following a brief car chase early Thursday morning.
At around 2:00 a.m. Officer Tyler Cote attempted to stop a vehicle on the Connector Road in Presque Isle, police say. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop and took off at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle was turning into a parking lot off Dragon Drive, it slid into a snowbank.
Cpl. Lucas Hafford and Officer Tonya Alexander responded to assist Officer Cote. Police say two people inside the vehicle, a male and a female, were identified and detained.
Another male suspect fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance away. He was also detained and was later turned over to the US Border Patrol for allegedly entering the United States illegally.
Presque Isle Police say the female driver and male passenger were found to be in possession of approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $3,000.
The woman was charged with Failing to Stop for a Police Officer, Driving to Endanger, Violation of Condition of Release, and Unlawful Possession of Schedule W drugs. She was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.
The male passenger was charged with Trafficking in Schedule W drugs and was released on $2,000 bail.
