As the new school year begins, Pines Health Services kicked off National Health Center Week by hosting its 2nd annual Elementary School Supply Drive.

It's estimated that an average family will spend almost $500 on back-to-school supplies and clothing. The mission of Pines Health Services is to help bridge part of the gap between what the students need and what their families can afford.

National Health Center Week was held the week of August 4th to the 10th and is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers.

Lisa Caron, the COO at Pines says her team was excited to be able to help out such a worthy cause. "Just like good health, having the right school supplies will help get kids in our area off on the right foot for a successful school year ahead." She adds the drive this year allowed them to deliver eight 72-gallon totes, filled to the brim, to area elementary schools.

Health centers across the nation serve close to 27 million patients and continues to increase.
