It's been relatively quiet on the Pearl Jam front this year, but the band has new music around the corner.

The group reportedly recorded a song, "Obey the Law of the Heart," for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Basmati Blues, an agriculturally themed musical about a scientist (Brie Larson) whose development of genetically modified rice leads her boss (Donald Sutherland) to send her on a trip to India with hopes of selling the new product to the country's farmers. The movie marks the feature directorial debut from director/co-writer Dan Baron, who rounded up an eclectic assortment of musicians to contribute material. Larson — who pursued a recording career prior to breaking out in film — handles the vocals for some numbers in the movie, which started production before she landed her Oscar-winning role in 2015's Room.

According to the long-running Italian fan site Pearl Jam Online, "Obey the Law of the Heart" was written by guitarist Stone Gossard and performed by the band with Sain Zahoor and Priya Darshini; production credits for the track list Gossard, Steven Argila, and Wayne Sharpe. It's unknown exactly when Basmati Blues will arrive in theaters, but whenever the soundtrack surfaces, it seems likely to contain Pearl Jam's first new song since 2013’s Lightning Bolt. Despite months of rumors, there haven't been any concrete details regarding the group's next LP, but Blues isn't the only film project they've been involved with recently — the band has also completed a new concert movie, Let's Play Two.
