Mayor Jonathan LaBonte of Auburn proclaimed a day in honor of U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe.

Snowe moved to Auburn as a child. She graduated from the Edward Little High School. Later on she went on to represent the city in the Maine House and Senate. And for the past 34 years, Snowe spent working as a U.S. Senator.

Wednesday, Jan. 2 was Snowe last day in office. Mayor LaBonte proclaimed that day as a ‘Olympia Snowe Day.’

In a statement, Snowe said that she was ‘inexpressibly honored.’
