34-year-old Mathieu Joseph Paul Leger from Moncton faces six charges related to two collisions June 30th – one in Cocagne and another collision 15 minutes later on Highway 15 near Lakeville.

Southeast District RCMP responded to the first incident around 4:50 pm, June 30th near Cocagne Marina. Leger rear-ended a vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived, said officials.

Another collision was reported about 15 minutes later on Highway 15 near Lakeville. The car matched the description of the first crash. RCMP said Leger fled on foot after his car went into a ditch. Police dogs were used to locate him, and he was arrested soon after the crash.

The initial charge was driving while prohibited. The five additional charges came on July 3rd and include uttering threats, resisting arrest, breach of probation, failing to provide a breath sample and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Leger is in custody and will be in court Moncton Provincial Court on July 15.
