Forgotten Horses Are Getting a Fresh Start at This Magical Maine Farm
Did you know this was thing? Because I had no idea, and I talk to people for a living..
There’s this massive, 124 acre farm at 279 River Road in Windham, Maine that takes in abused, neglected, and otherwise forgotten horses from all over the state.
The Maine State Society for The Protection of Animals (MSSPA) run the farm and they just began a $1.5 million capital campaign to build what they call, “quarantine central", according to Mainebiz.
Incoming horses will get their very own area to chill. It reminds me of flu season, sometimes you need your space and this space is about to gain a seriously beautiful upgrade!
As per the article, there will not be any shared buckets, no nose-to-nose contact and even the halters or pitchforks won’t be used like regular to avoid spreading any germs.
They are truly thinking of every way to keep these animals healthy and most importantly give them the dignity they deserve.
And let me remind you, these are not just any horses. Most of them get there in terribly sad conditions, skinny bodies, sickness, and sometimes even forgotten by their previous owners.
But once they are healed and nourished and loved, they will be adopted into forever homes with families who love them.

There are about 35-40 horses that are residing on the farm at any given time and this upgrade isn’t something that’s easy to do.
But it’s a necessity so the best part is that a $500,000 matching gift is also on the table from the Dave and Carol McCulloch family. That means, every single dollar counts double for this.
How You Can Help Give These Horses a Second Chance
If you want to help these horses get a place to really breathe during their second chance at life, head on over to MSSPA now.
Let’s spread the word and help build this barn together!
