There are 28 people currently listed as missing here in Maine by the State Police. The most recent disappearance occurred in 2012, but some of these open cases date back to the 1970s. The Maine State Police keeps a current list of all persons considered to be missing on their website. If you recognize or have any information on the people listed here, please contact the police. Jeremy Alex
Missing Since 2004From Maine State Police: Jeremy Alex was last seen on April 30, 2004. Jeremy was seen running down a rural road in Northport, Maine in a delusional state. Jeremy has not been seen or heard from since. Numerous leads and interviews have been conducted over the years with no resolution. The Alex family has offered a reward regarding Jeremy's case. The State Police continue their investigation. The case is considered a suspicious missing persons case.

Ludger Belanger
Missing Since 1975From Maine State Police: On 11-25-75 at 0900 hours, Ludger Belanger was dropped on Route 105 in Washington by his brother and wife to go hunting. He had a .30-30 hunting rifle in his possession. He advised his wife he would be home in one hour. He was never seen again. Investigation revealed that Ludger had shot his deer, drug it to the road and was picked up by someone in a motor vehicle.

Joseph Bichrest
Missing Since 1976From Maine State Police: Joseph Bichrest, formerly of Pennsylvania, was an attorney living in Greenville. In 1976, he disappeared, along with his jeep. Investigation revealed that a credit card in his name was used in Philadelphia two days after his disappearance. His jeep has never been found. Anonymous reports persist that he was murdered. Rumors that he and his jeep are in a quarry in Greenville abound, and several quarries have been searched over the years.

George Boardman
Missing Since 2000From Maine State Police: Boardman's vehicle (1990 Brown Honda Accord, Maine Registration 3403 JF) was located abandoned behind the Searsmont Municipal Parking Lot in Searsmont, Maine. The vehicle was located on November 6, 2000. Boardman resided at 392 Whitney Street in Bingham, Maine. Boardman's roommates stated that he had not been seen since October 5, 2000, over a month prior. Numerous leads and interviews have been conducted over the years with no resolution. Boardman has never been located.

Douglas Chapman
Missing Since 1971From Maine State Police: On June 2, 1971, at about 10:30 AM, 3-year-old Douglas Chapman was reported missing by his mother. He was last seen playing by a sand pile approximately 25 yards in front of his residence. His mother reported that she was in the residence talking on the phone, and his father was at work.

Roger Day
Missing Since 1973From Maine State Police: On 10/04/1973, Roger Day (11/04/1958) was reported missing by his father. He was last seen on 10/03/1973 in Porter, Maine, supposedly going to spend the day at Fryeburg Fair.

William Garlick
Missing Since 1982From Maine State Police: William Garlick, dob 3-18-55, and John Joyce, dob 6-15-49, left Worcester, MA on 9-13-82 enroute to Alton, Maine to collect a $22,000 debt. They were operating a black 1980 Corvette, Mass. Registration 512-EVZ. The Corvette was found in the parking lot of the Bangor Mall in Bangor, Maine on 9-14-82. The ignition was torn apart, as well as the interior of the vehicle. A man's wallet, belonging to William Garlick, was found on the seat of the vehicle. John Joyce and William Garlick have not been seen since.

Jesse O. Hoover
Missing Since 1983From Maine State Police: Jesse Hoover was reported missing on 7-11-83 by her sister. Hoover traveled to Maine from Texas to hike the Appalachian Trail. She was last seen on 5-20-83 at the Baxter State Park Headquarters. Hoover was an epileptic and had no special equipment or knowledge to aid her while hiking.
At the time of her disappearance Hoover was 54 years old, 5' 10" tall and weighed 240 pounds. She was wearing blue jeans, blue shirt, blue windbreaker and a blue knapsack.

Roderick Hotham
Missing Since 1992From Maine State Police: Rod Hotham was living in Veazie when he was last seen in September of 1992. He was a Certified Public Accountant and was indicted on Federal charges in November of that same year.

Michelle Jakaitis
Missing Since 1987From Maine State Police: Michelle Jakaitis of Massachusetts was reported missing on January 16, 1987. She was last seen alive on December 31, 1986, in Dixfield, Maine.

Fay Johnson
Missing Since 2012From Maine State Police: Fay Johnson was last seen on March 12, 2012 in the Lewiston/Auburn area; she also has ties to Bethel. Fay has serious medical/mental health conditions, does not have access to her medications and wears a medical alert necklace for her pacemaker.

Kay Johnson
Missing Since 1986From Maine State Police: Kay Myers Johnson, dob 5-20-1906, age 80 at the time of her disappearance, went missing from her home in Monson sometime between noon on 8-23-86 and 4:00 pm on 8-24-86. Mrs. Johnson had difficulty walking and had poor eyesight. Warden searches were unsuccessful.

John Joyce
Missing Since 1982From Maine State Police: John Joyce, dob 6-15-49 and William Garlick, dob 3-18-55, left Worcester, MA on 9-13-82 enroute to Alton, Maine to collect a $22,000 debt. Stanley Kennard
Missing Since 1987From Maine State Police: In 1987, Stanley Kennard left Madison for temporary employment in Southern Maine. Stanley's mother reported him missing a year later to the Madison Police Department. The State Police became involved with the investigation in 1997.

Marilyn Lehan
Missing Since 2002From Maine State Police: Marilyn Lehan was last known to be living with her husband in the Town of Eastport. She was last seen during the summer of 2002 by a relative. Investigative efforts have not produced any alternate addresses or any indication that she is living at another location.

Philip Letarte
Missing Since 1986From Maine State Police: Philip Letarte, 65, left the Tibbetts Road home of Robert Ericson in Woodland on June 2, 1986 around 300 pm. Letarte told Ericson that he was going to GARY's EXXON in New Sweden to buy cigarettes. A 3.5 mile walk. On 6-3-86, a man fitting Letarte's description was seen standing on the Colby Road.
Letarte has not been seen since.

Michael Madore
Missing Since 1996From Maine State Police: Michael Madore was last seen in the Town of Milo on April 6, 1996. Investigative efforts have not produced any alternate addresses or any indication that he is living at another location.

Shirley Moon-Atwood
Missing Since 2006From Maine State Police: During the summer of 2006, Shirley Moon-Atwood was living with her husband, Shannon Atwood, at 534 Hartland Road in Canaan. In July of 2006, the State Police started a missing persons investigation to determine the whereabouts of Cheryl Murdoch, who had recently moved in with Shannon Atwood at that same address. Cheryl's body was located in August of 2006. The State Police continued to investigate in an attempt to locate Shirley Moon-Atwood. Shannon Atwood was charged with the murder of both Cheryl and Shirley. Prior to trial, the charge of murder was dismissed without prejudice with respect to Shirley. Shannon Atwood was convicted in the murder of Cheryl Murdoch. Extensive searches have not located Shirley Moon-Atwood.

Kimberly Moreau
Missing Since 1986From Maine State Police: 17-year-old Kimberly Moreau was last seen in Jay at about midnight on May 9, 1986 in the company of an individual she met earlier that day. She has not been seen since. Extensive searches have been conducted throughout the region. Foul play is suspected.

Kurt Newton
Missing Since 1975From Maine State Police: Four-year-old Kurt Newton was last seen on August 31, 1975 at a campground in Chain of Ponds, which is near the Canadian border in Northern Franklin County. He had been camping with his family. Despite a large search effort by civilians and law enforcement, he was never found.

Virginia Pictou Noyes
Missing Since 1993From Maine State Police: On 4-27-93, Virginia Pictou Noyes went to Bangor with her husband, Larry Noyes, and two other people. They all got extremely intoxicated and Larry assaulted Virginia. Larry was arrested for domestic assault and Virginia was taken to EMMC. She repeatedly told police that she needed to get home to her 5 children in Easton. Virginia left the hospital before her checkup was completed. Larry ultimately made bail and was released. We are reasonably sure she got a ride to the truck stop in Houlton as witnesses saw her using the telephone. She was last seen walking north through the parking lot of the truck stop.

Ayla Reynolds
Missing Since 2011From Maine State Police: On December 17, 2011, Ayla Reynolds (DOB 4-4-2010) was reported missing from her Violette Avenue home by her father Justin DiPietro. Investigators have ruled out any possibility that Ayla left the house on her own or that she was abducted. Investigators discovered Ayla's blood in the basement of her home, and the three adults who were in the home at the time are withholding information. Police believe that Ayla is probably dead.

Bernard "Bunny" Ross
Missing Since 1977From Maine State Police: Bernard Ross was a resident of Fort Kent when he was last seen on May 12, 1977. Ross was suspected of stealing a vehicle from Presque Isle. He was last seen on the Realty Road near the Ashland-Portage Town line. Despite numerous searches he was never located.

Stephen Thompson
Missing Since 1986From Maine State Police: Stephen Thompson worked as a manager at Schwan's in Oakland. On the morning of June 2, 1986, Stephen was dropped off at work by his wife, Beverly. That morning employees observed Stephen at work. Later that morning unsuccessful attempts were made to make contact/locate Stephen. The Oakland Police Department responded and investigated. The State Police became involved in 1993.

Angelo "Angel" Torres
Missing Since 1999From Maine State Police: Angel or "Tony", as he was also known, was reported missing by his family on May 24, 1999. Angel was in the Saco/ Biddeford/OOB area at the time of his disappearance. Foul play is suspected.
On what would have been Angel's 38th birthday (today 4/1/2016), the Torres family has received a generous donation increasing the reward in this case from $5000. to $10,000. On Saturday May, 21st, 2016 (the 17th anniversary of Angels disappearance) the reward has been increased to $15000.
