The New Brunswick Farm Products Commission will raise the minimum price consumers will pay for milk by nearly one percent as of February 1. 

Commission chair Bob Shannon says a price adjustment was necessary based on the increase in payroll, energy, packaging and ingredient costs for dairy processors.


Pricing under the New Brunswick School Milk Program will remain unchanged for the current school year. The program has provided significant savings to school children in New Brunswick since 1995. Dairy producers and processors subsidize the program by about $1 million per year.

Shannon says New Brunswick dairy producers and processors supply about 1.1 million litres of milk to kindergarten to Grade 12 students each year .

The commission represents producers, processors and consumers and is responsible for setting the price of fluid milk products in New Brunswick.
