MDEA Busts 5 Lewiston Maine Men For Trafficking Crack Cocaine
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston Police arrested five Lewiston men Wednesday and charged them with selling crack cocaine.
The men arrested were 34-year old James Earl Pontoo, 30-year old Shane Daniel Pontoo, 26-year old Cain Robertson, 53-year old Timothy Joseph Rodrigue, and Christopher 'CJ' McFarland.
The charges ranged from the aggravated trafficking of cocaine, unlawful furnishing of cocaine, and probation hold.
Drug agents and Lewiston Police have been conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in Lewiston for the past three months, including undercover purchases of crack cocaine from the five men charged.
Agents searched a residence at 101 Pine Street in Lewiston and seized items associated with drug trafficking. The Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department and Central Maine Violent Crimes Task Force assisted in the arrests and the search of the residence.
The five men were transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where bail was set at various amounts. Both James and Shane Pontoo posted bail and have been released. Robertson, Rodrigue, and McFarland remain in custody and were scheduled to make an initial court appearance in Lewiston District Court Friday
MDEA and Lewiston Police are continuing the investigation and additional arrests are expected.
